  • USA & International orders and shipping?
Unfortunately, it isn't as straight forward as I'd like it to be. A bit of a glitch that I'm working on. Anyone can purchase the art directly off of my site, the Internations shipping will say FREE which really means "I will email you a quote after you purchase the art". Shipping is seperate, and will NOT be free. Sorry for the confusion. If the shipping exceeds your expectations, I will provide you with a full refund. No questions asked. This will hopefully be simplified ASAP. Thanks for your patience.
  • When will I get an update on my order?
When you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation with your order's full details. Your order will take up to 3-5 business days to process. When your order has shipped or is ready to be picked up, you'll receive an additional email with a tracking number or pickup details. Check the tracking information regularly to follow along on your packages journey. Please keep in mind that shipping time frames are not guaranteed, as weather and mail volume can affect delivery.
  • Where/ how will you ship the art?
I ship worldwide! For small to medium size pieces, I typically ship Canada Post Expedited within Canada and the US (unless you choose another provider). All packages come with a tracking number. Larger paintings will ship FedEx Ground. I have had great success, and they typically offer reasonable rates. If you live outside of Canada/US and are interested in a large painting (over 36 inches in length), please contact me for a shipping quote. All other shipments will be calculated at checkout. Please note you will be responsible for all duties, taxes, and customs charges that apply. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any shipping questions or concerns.
  • How much will it cost to ship my order?
Shipping costs vary depending on shipping location, size, weight and volume. In the checkout process you will be given a shipping quote based on the order and destination. The Average range is $25-$200 within Canada.
  • How are my items packaged for shipping?
Original paintings vary by size and may need to be shipped using different materials. All paintings are wrapped in protective materials and packaged in a corrugated cardboard box. Any paintings larger than 48x60 paintings typically are removed from their stretcher bars, rolled, and shipped in a tube to be restretched at their destination. I'm happy to help you through this process - just ask! :)
  • What if my shipment doesn’t arrive?
So far I haven’t had any issues with orders not arriving. There have been a few cases where a shipment has been late or delayed. The typical shipping process is as follows. Once your order leaves my studio, it's passed off to the courier for shipping. When your order is shipped, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email containing the tracking number to follow along on your packages' journey. In the very rare case that your order becomes damaged or lost, I will need to file a claim with the courier. You can reach me at art@nataliebutler.ca
  • Can I pick up my art?
Yes, absolutely. My studio is in Calgary, so we can arrange pick up. I am also willing to deliver some of the larger pieces within the Calgary area at no extra cost.
  • What is your return/exchange policy?
Due to the natural delicacy of canvases and boards, all sales are final. If something arrives damaged, please email a photo and your order number within 3 days of delivery to art@nataliebutler.ca. I am here every step of the way. It's my goal to guide you through the purchase of any of my work. I want my customers to be 100% satisfied with their investment. Please use me to advise and consult prior to your purchase. I'm more than happy to work with you on appropriate size, scale, colour and location.
  • What medium do you paint in?
I typically work with Acrylic paint. I mostly paint on pine wood panels, but also work on canvas as well. Check the art descriptions to see what materials I’ve used. You can always contact me to discuss the differences for your space.
  • When do you release new original work?
I generally release new work in collections, 15-20 paintings at a time within a specific theme, up to 4 times a year. The best way to stay informed of new releases is to sign up for my mailing list and follow along on Instagram.
  • Is your art sold framed?
Right this second it isn’t. I am currently working with a local framer to possibly allow for this option in the future. Stay tuned. If you would like to have something framed in the Calgary area, please reach out as I am happy to help you along the way.
  • Who actually owns the artwork?
This is a very important question that I want to make sure is clear before your purchase. When you buy an original painting, you buy the physical object to have and enjoy. In most circumstances, you own only the artwork, not the copyright to it. A good example to explain this: when you buy a book, film, music etc. You’re acquiring the right to own and enjoy the item but not the right to reproduce it. I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold and commissioned original paintings. The collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission. When you purchase an original painting, you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be reproduced without my written permission. If you have any questions, please reach out.
  • What is a commission?
Simply put, a commission painting is a fancy way of saying that we work one-on-one to create a special painting just for you and your space. If you are interested in doing this, please go to my commission page and fill out a request. I can only commit to doing a limited number a year, so I encourage you to register and we can discuss next steps and possible timelines.. For all other questions please reach out to me directly at art@nataliebutler.ca
